OUTRO

Yo what up, my name is JOS, I’m an Emcee from Chicago. In the summer of ‘87 I was 8ight & that’s when I was introduced to HipHop. My downstairs neighbor was a DeeJay. Between practicing & making mixtapes, he was spinnin’ all day, every day. In High School I met 3 prolific Emcees. They schooled me on everything HipHop & I’ve been practicing the Element of Emceein’ since ‘92. In 2017 I got married & this project came about because of my kids. I wanted to find a way to share my love for HipHop with them.

Where do I even begin..? I know if it wasn’t for HipHop I’m certain I was headed for a life in the streets. Experiencing the Kulture, living the lifestyle & Rap Music got me out of the hood. If it wasn’t for the lessons from Rakim, Chuck D. & KRS, I’m positive things would’ve been very different. When I was 4teen I dug into the history I missed out on & fully immersed myself into the Kulture. I acquired awareness & direction at the exact moment I needed it. It gave me a sense of belonging & a higher level of consciousness. It helped me find my voice & identity. How do I translate this story to my children..?

Playing music, watching movies & reading books isn’t going to be enough. I want them to have a deeper understanding to the significance of HipHop Kulture. Plus having all this come from “dad” doesn’t have the same oomph. I had to figure out a way to be JOS & get myself to the main stage. That’s the easy part though, getting the people to accept me is where it gets tricky. A task I willingly accept.

All I can say is, ever since I sat in the cut watching my neighbor work the 1’s & 2’s, I fell in love with this Kulture. Ever since I kicked my first flow in a basement somewhere in Chicago, all I wanted was to be a recognized member of this Kulture. Today I’m here to present my first of many contributions. If you allow me the opportunity to proceed, I guarantee every triumph will be a triumph for the HipHop Nation. My intentions are honorable, my approach is with all respect due & I humbly request your support. Hit me up. Peace…
